What is Depo-Provera?
Depo-Provera is an injectable contraceptive that uses medroxyprogesterone acetate to stop pregnancy by preventing ovulation and thickening the cervical mucus. The typical prescription calls for one injection every three months.

One French study published by the British Medical Journal looked at the medical records of more than 100,000 women, including many who first started using Depo-Provera decades ago, and determined that, on average, a woman who used Depo-Provera for at least one year was five times more likely to be diagnosed with an Intracranial Meningioma.
