Sulaiman was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. He is the son of Pakistani immigrants and has been active in civic and leadership initiatives focused on public service and community engagement.
Voting Rights & Advocacy
While at Furman University, Sulaiman led initiatives to increase student voter participation and served as lead plaintiff in a successful lawsuit challenging Greenville County’s voter registration practices affecting college students. This litigation garnered national attention and was featured in The New York Times.
He continued his advocacy during law school and was selected as one of only three South Carolinians invited to meet with Vice President of the United States to discuss barriers to voter registration and ways to strengthen election integrity. During that meeting, he shared firsthand insights from his work on voting rights and community engagement efforts.
Litigation Experience
Sulaiman has drafted and argued dispositive motions, conducted depositions of fact and expert witnesses, and represented clients in mediations. Despite being early in his legal career, he has developed meaningful trial experience, serving as second chair in multiple trials and first-chairing his first solo trial in South Carolina Circuit Court. In that role, he secured a jury verdict and punitive damages under the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act.

Sulaiman earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was a member of the Mock Trial Bar and developed a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Affairs from Furman University, where he earned multiple honors, including the Politics & International Affairs Faculty Award, induction into the Furman University Hall of Leaders, and selection as a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship recipient.
