Boppy Newborn Lounger Lawsuit
The Boppy Company has recalled more than 3.3 million Boppy Original Newborn Loungers, Boppy Preferred Newborn Loungers, and Pottery Barn Kids Newborn Lounger after at least eight (8) infant deaths were linked to the infant sleep product.
The babies suffocated after being placed on their backs, sides or stomachs in the Boppy Newborn loungers and Pottery Barn Loungers. They were found dead on their sides or stomachs. According to reports, the infants’ deaths occurred between December 2015 and June 2020.
“These types of incidents are heartbreaking,” said U.S. Consumer Product Safety (CPSC) Acting Chairman Robert S. Adler. “Recalled loungers and Boppy pillow-like infant sleep products are not safe for infant sleep, due to the risk of suffocation. Since we know that infants sleep so much of the time – even in products not intended for sleep – and since the infant deaths associated can happen so quickly, these Boppy lounger products are simply too risky to remain on the market.”
Boppy Recalls & Relevant Retailers
The recall involves all Boppy Newborn Loungers and padded crib bumpers. Boppy sold the products in different colors and fashions. They measure about 23 inches long by 22 inches wide and 7 inches high.
Affected Boppy loungers and Pottery Barn Kids Loungers were sold at juvenile product stores and mass merchandisers nationwide and online. Retailers selling the Boppy loungers included Pottery Barn Kids, Target, Walmart, and also online at Amazon.com. The loungers were sold from January 2004 through September 2021 for prices between $30 and $44.
Anyone who purchased a Boppy Company Newborn Lounger or a Pottery Barn Kids Lounger affected by this recall is advised to should stop using it immediately and contact The Boppy Company for a full refund.

Boppy Infant Head & Neck Support Accessory Recalled for Suffocation Risk
In July 2019, The Boppy Company recalled about 14,000 Boppy Infant Head and Neck Support Accessories after the company received at least three (3) reports of infant’s head being pushed forward chin to chest by the product.
According to the recall notice, the adult pillow support area of the Boppy Preferred Newborn Lounger System can be overstuffed, causing the child’s head to be tilted too far forward, posing a suffocation hazard.
The recall involves Original Newborn Loungers Boppy Head and Neck supports sold in Ebony Floral and Heathered Gray colors, with model numbers 4150114 and 4150117. The model number can be found on the fabric label on the head support. The device can also be used as an accessory in swings, bouncers and strollers, CPSC said.
The recalled Boppy Loungers were sold online at Amazon.com, at Target, Buy Buy Baby, and other major children’s retailers and furniture stores. Anyone who purchased a head and neck supporter affected by the recall is advised to contact Boppy Products for information regarding a refund.
